Leadership
A leader is someone who guides a group of people to a established goal, he or she has knowledge and abilities that helps to take the best of every member of the group's abilities and grow together.
What it takes to be a good leader?
Build Trust: When it comes to leading, you have to be willing to go out on a limb for your employees to show you have their back.
Show confidence in your decisions: You have to be comfortable making big decisions and sticking to them.
Take responsibility: We’re all humans. Mistakes will happen. But it’s not always easy to own up to mistakes and be respective to feedback and change.
Having a mentor: No matter who you are, it’s always helpful when you have someone to look up to who is experienced with strong leadership capabilities. It makes it a lot easier to see someone perform in action than living by words on paper.
Styles of leadership
Democratic: In this leadership style, the members of the group have more participation in the making of the decision. There's better contribution and it requires collaboration between leaders and the people they guide. Two key aspects are the communication and empowerment. Empowerment is the process of becoming more confident.
Autocratic: Characterized by individual control over all decisions and little participation of group members, they generally make decisions based on their ideas and judgments and rarely accept advice from their followers.
Laissez-Faire: It is a French expression that means "let it happen, let it be", therefore it is the opposite of the autocratic style, since the leader does not intervene and allows the members of the group to make decisions.
